Abstract

In nonlinear optics, it is well know that in the weak field limit a perturbation expansion is used to calculate the atomic wave function and the nonlinear susceptibility[1] whereas for a strong field resonant interaction, the dressed atom model[2,3] is used. There is, however, no theory to account for arbitrary interaction field strengths which should contain both of the above descriptions, especially relevant to cases of intermediate field strength.
