Abstract

Most laser beams have wavefronts which are essentially spherical. An exception is the hybrid TEM₀₁* quadrature phase locked superposition of the TEM₀₁ and TEM₀₁ modes, or “doughnut”, which exhibits a helical wavefront structure and has a phase singularity on its axis^[1].
