Abstract

Most laser beams have wavefronts which are essentially spherical. An exception is the hybrid TEM01* quadrature phase locked superposition of the TEM01 and TEM01 modes, or “doughnut”, which exhibits a helical wavefront structure and has a phase singularity on its axis[1].
