Abstract

The power radiated by a system in the presence of an intense laser field depends on the acceleration of the atomic electron. Numerically however the power spectrum is usually calculated using the Fourier transform of the dipole moment,[1] which is then simply multiplied by the appropriate frequency factor, which is ω4, but as we shall show, this method is not correct if the dipole moment does not vanish at large times, i.e. when there is significant ionisation.
