Abstract
Dr. Hood will briefly outline the objectives of the Human Genome Project and discuss some of the major technical challenges that lie ahead. One such challenge is bringing the technique of microfabrication into biology. He will point out, among other examples, the role that lasers will play in the creation of miniature biological machines.
