Abstract
Measurements of ultrafast optical nonlinearities in active semiconductor waveguide structures are of interest as a means of investigating fundamental carrier dynamics in semiconductors. The results of these studies are also relevant to several areas of practical importance, such as all-optical switching and amplification, diode-laser mode locking, and four-wave mixing in diode lasers.
