Abstract
In this talk, the principles involved in some applications of ultrafast lasers in chemistry and biology are reviewed. The focus is on the elementary dynamics of atoms and molecules on the femtosecond (10−15 second) time scale. Current research is discussed, and opportunities for the future are explored.
