Abstract
In this paper we study the coherent dynamics of magnetoexciton (ME) wavepackets for the first time. Coherent excitation of the ME manifold is provided by broadband fs pulses. The wavepacket dynamics reveals a complex beat structure that reflects the anharmonicity of the ME ladder. By varying the chirp of the pulses we demonstrate control of the relative phases of hte individual ME polarisations. Furthermore, we show that for broadband excitation the nonlinear response emitted at the 1 s exciton is dominated by contributions that correspond to excitation of higher states by the first pulse. This explains several heretofore puzzling results [2,3].
