Abstract
Temporal intensity fluctuations on Stimulated Brillouin Scattering (SBS) return pulses have been reported in gases, liquids and solids. [1-3] These fluctuations have been attributed to the acoustic noise from which the SBS process initiates. [2] Simultaneous temporal variations in SBS reflectivity and phase fidelity have also been reported, [4] but their origin was unclear.
