Berry Phase Effect on Exciton Transport and Bose Einstein Condensate

Abstract

For excitons in semiconductors, a gauge structure intrinsic to the wavefunction leads to spin-dependent topological transport. When sufficiently large number of excitons have condensed, a nonrotating Bose-Einstein condensate may become unstable against vortex formation [1].
