Abstract
We present a comparison of the high harmonic generation for two wide bandgap solids under varying ultrafast pulse properties. Through control of the chirp and temporal shape of the pulse we optimise different orders in the high harmonic plateau. More- over, studying in parallel ionic MgO and giant co- valent SiO2 highlights the bond type influence on the spectral properties and by changing the angle between linear light polarisation and bonding directions, we optimise the electron paths for enhanced high harmonic spectra.
