Abstract
Nowadays the use of optical-based equipment for biomedical applications has increased. The co-integration of such tools with mechanical systems provides the use of them in a wide variety of fields. The co-integration of an optical scanner with an electro-mechanical system is developed in this work for biomedical applications such as 3D casts. In this work, we present the co-integration of a high resolution scanner controlled by an automatic system. The system works linearly from 38.1 up to 152.4 cm helped by a set of gears that has a step of 0.01875 degrees of maximum resolution. The co-integration of both systems allows us to develop 3D casts for children in order to improve the healing of its “bones”.
