Abstract
I will discuss how particle-hole symmetry, a fermionic symmetry in condensed matter systems, can be realized in photonics with modulated gain and loss. This non-Hermtian particle-hole symmetry can lead to many interesting phenomena, including symmetry-protected flat bands and single-mode lasers.
