Abstract
Multi-Service Core Aggregation Systems promise significant operational and capital cost savings while speeding provisioning and reducing provisioning errors. With the introduction of the Multi-Service Core Aggregation Systems, multiple SONET rings terminate on the same device, which serves as a common gateway network element for many rings. In choosing a Multi-Service Core Aggregation System, carriers should ensure that the system has the management capabilities to support existing services such as private rings.
In this paper, the author will explain how a new management capabilities allow carriers to provide routing and forwarding isolation for each ring, while the implementation of Role-Based Access Control gives carriers the management isolation and access features to assign various management privileges to specific customers while protecting other resources from them.
