Abstract
This paper presents the concepts for transport and distribution of MPEG-2 video streams over emerging carrier Metro-Ethernet/RPR/SONET and end-to-end IP/MPLS networks. Video performance (packet loss, latency) is measured and the results are discussed for different network conditions (port and metro ring load) and high priority (HP) quality of service (QoS) vs. best effort (BE) service profiles. The condition for preserving good video performance across IP/Ethernet/MPLS networks is discussed and analyzed.
