Abstract
Frequency doubling of near-infrared lasers in channel waveguides offers the potential of building robust, compact and reliable blue lasers. KNbO3 is one of the candidate materials for high efficiency frequency doubling of AIGaAs and InGaAs laser diodes and of diode-pumped solid-state lasers, e.g. Nd:YAG and Nd:YVO4 lasers, into the blue spectral range thanks to its large nonlinear optical coefficients and its favourable phase-matching (PM) conditions1.
