Abstract
Spectral inversion conducted half-way in a transmission link is one way of taking the bitrate length product beyond the dispersion limit in a fiber-optic communication system. This spectral inversion, or phase-conjugation, is most easily achieved by four-wave mixing between the signal-wave and a degenerated pump-wave.
