Microwave-rate soliton mode-locking on a chip

Abstract

A monolithic mode-locked optical frequency comb that generates electronic-rate soliton pulses is demonstrated. The pulses are spectrally broadened and their detected, repetition-rate phase noise is comparable to a good K-band oscillator.
