Abstract
A threshold behavior of the convective flows’ excitation in fluid media at thermal lens oscillations is examined. In the case of a local near-interface heating some deformation of the medium surface takes place. Taking into account the latter two modes of a threshold at the convective flows’ excitation is suggested. Their nature differs qualitatively from well-known classical thresholds described by Rayleigh and Marangoni numbers.
