Abstract
We describe an external laser frequency stabilizer consisting of an acoustooptic frequency shifter and a fast electrooptic phase modulator. Our work follows that of Hall and Hansch, who first proposed and demonstrated the delay compensated compound frequency transducer.1 Their initial experiments produced a linewidth of ~20 kHz for the external cavity stabilization of a commercial dye laser.
