Abstract
We have developed a monochromator-based spectral comparator for the purpose of photodiode calibration and research. The comparator is used for measurements of reflectance, absolute response, and quantum efficiency. Some of the unique features of the instrument are its narrow bandpass, its low light scattering in the ultraviolet, and its wavelength accuracy. In addition the data taking process for the comparator has been completely automated. Some of the experiments that we have been able to do because of these instrument features are an accurate measurement of the absolute response of a photooptically corrected detector, and the measurement of the internal quantum efficiency of a group of photodiodes. We describe this instrument and the experimental results.
