Abstract
Refractive optical systems using lenses of common low-cost optical glasses and selected optical liquid can attain a level of color correction previously possible only with expensive and difficult to work abnormal dispersion glasses or crystals. In addition to providing dramatic color correction these liquids have good availability, reduced material cost, and low-light scatter. The material selection, design, athermalization, and mechanical aspects for glass-liquid lens objectives are developed.
