Abstract

The difficulty encountered in the design of a bar code system for accurate alignment is the quadratic form of the autocorrelation equation. To overcome this difficulty, two different methods have been proposed: One consists of a calculation of all the possible combinations of the bar code modules.1 The other depends on designer's experience about typical structures of bar code systems.2 A new method is proposed on the basis of a choice of the appropriate solution of simultaneous equations obtained from the process of linearization of the autocorrelation equation. Numerical examples are presented to show the usefulness of this new method.
