Abstract
As air pollution is an extremely dynamic phenomenon, lidar with its potentiality of selective measurements of pollutant concentrations over several kilometers is an interesting possibility to monitor the imission and emission in a big city area like Berlin, Germany. Measurements on the SO2 concentration were made during two periods in Dec. 1988 and Jan. 1989 and the results are presented and discussed including further implications for measurements of other air pollutants and the future development of the lidar system.
