Optimum design of birefringent filters

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

A birefringent filter has been used as the tuning element in most cw dye lasers; it is placed within the dye laser cavity at the Brewster angle. The wavelength is tuned by rotating the filter at its surface normal line.
