Corrections to the theory of photocounting

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

It is shown that causality is violated in the well-known Glauber theory of photon statistics. This is caused by use of the wave rotation approximation. Corrections to the theory of photocounting are proposed. For coherent states, the corrected probability distribution of photocounting has the same formula as previously but a different mean.
