Commercially available glass integrated optics devices

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Glass integrated optical devices were developed in the early 1970s. However, it took nearly 20 years for products based on this technique to be introduced into the market sufficiently for them to be purchased in quantities larger than mere laboratory samples. Worldwide, fewer than 10 companies published the development of integrated optical devices in glass by ion-exchange.
