All-optical phase-locked modulator

Abstract

An all-fiber erbium-glass laser has been mode locked using an optically-controllable Sagnac loop mirror. By tuning the cavity length of the control laser, cw oscillation of the erbium laser has been observed at frequencies up to 13.8 GHz.
