Albedo, clouds, and climate

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

This tutorial will provide an introduction to climate research that stresses the role of clouds in the radiation budget of the atmosphere. Radiative transfer theory, atmospheric scattering and absorption, and cloud-radiation feedback mechanisms will be discussed. The presentation will focus on the application of satellite remote sensing to problems of climate monitoring and climatemodel validation.
