Abstract
Designs of apochromatic and superachromatic Gauss objectives utilizing only two optical materials have been described recently.1 These earlier designs were developed with moderate values of focal ratio (f/4) and fields of view (12–20°) and have reasonably excellent optical performance over wavelength bands covering the visible and near infrared regions of the electromagnetic spectrum. In this paper, design derivatives of the earlier work are described and design configuration of apochromatic Gauss lenses at f/2 are presented. The performance evaluation of these designs at 50-mm length, f/2, and 20° field of view without vignetting are shown.
