Abstract
The temporal and spatial spreading of a pulsed beam in a medium exhibiting small-angle scattering is of fundamental importance in many areas such as astrophysics, meteorology, and oceanic optics. Although many papers have been published on this subject, we feel that none have given a complete solution to this problem, i.e., both the spatial and temporal profiles for a collimated pulsed beam. It is the solution to this problem which will be presented.
