Abstract
Many previous studies have dealt with radiation-induced absorption in optical fibers. Only a few of these studies,1-4 however, have dealt with short-term effects occurring within the first 100 nsec after fiber irradiation. These previous studies have shown that plastic-clad silica (PCS) fibers exhibit relatively little radiation-induced optical absorption, while germanium-doped fibers exhibit.
