Abstract
A serious problem with conventional grating-tuned external-cavity lasers1 is their sensitivity to angular misalignment of the grating. While rotation of the grating about an axis parallel to the rulings tunes the laser output, a small rotation about an axis perpendicular to the rulings misaligns the external cavity. We describe an alignment-stablized degenerate external-cavity semiconductor laser tuned with an interference filter.
