Abstract
The Optical Fiber Communication Conference (OFC) is the major annual North American conference on the technology and use of optical fibers. OFC ’88 is the eleventh in a series of meetings that originated in Williamsburg, VA, in 1975. OFC plays a major role in the worldwide dissemination of research and development results in the fields of guided wave optics and integrated optics. This year the International Conference on Optical Fiber Sensors is being held in conjunction with OFC ’88. The common location of these two conferences facilitates the exchange of information between the sensors and the communications technical communities.
