Abstract
In an optical communication system using fiber amplifiers, inline polarization-independent isolators are essential.1 Existing isolators, however, consist of a number of discrete components, including lenses, and need individual, complicated alignment. A new configuration that is simple and capable of mass production is highly desirable. We report for the first time to our knowledge direct, lens-free integration of multiple isolators into a fiber array.
