Abstract
The technique of precise path matching to produce coherent summation of optical pulses at the output of an optical delay network offers great scope for optical code-division multiple-access (CDMA) networks. Balanced detection can be used to reject incoherent signals before thresholding,1·2 whereas purely incoherent techniques must rely on time spreading to distinguish wanted from unwanted users.
