Abstract
Although relatively little attention has been paid to the tuning speed of the wavelength-tunable distributed-Bragg-reflector (DBR) laser,1 it seems to be a promising device for optical switching, because of its large tunable wavelength range. In this work we present for the first time, to our knowledge, a switching time between two successive modes that is as low as 500 ps.
