Abstract
In this paper we present the study of a full-duplex, bidirectional optical transmission experiment that uses two 622-Mbit/s channels passing through two erbium-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFA’s) configured either as pre/postamplifiers at the terminal ends of a 170 km-span or as in-line amplifiers within a 195-km fiber span. The two 622-Mbit/s channels are transmitted by using DFB lasers with wavelengths of 1537 and 1544 nm, respectively, and linewidths of 0.28 nm.
