Abstract
Practical long-distance soliton transmission systems may operate at 2.488 GHz with pulse widths of approximately 50 ps. For mode-locked lasers this tight specification on the operation frequency requires accurate control of the cavity length, since these devices typically have a narrow operating-frequency range.
