Abstract
The GCSR laser is a four section semiconductor laser, which is tuned by current injection in three tuning sections to reach any frequencies throughout the entire C-band (192–196 THz). This kind of widely tunable laser is suitable for several DWDM applications, such as all-optical switches and dynamic capacity allocation.1 The ADC GCSR laser is mounted into an integrated module with control electronics, which is calibrated and programmed with channels on the ITU-grid with 50 or 100 GHz spacing. To ensure the quality of the system in which the laser modules are installed, it is very important that these predefined channels remain stable in frequency.
