Abstract
Recently, the need for broadband optical amplifiers has been increasing to accommodate fastgrowing telecommunication capacity demand. In the quest for wideband optical amplifiers, erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) has been considered practically the primary choice because we can use them for the most convenient wavelength band independent of the characteristics of the accompanying transmission fiber un- like the case for fiber Raman amplifiers.
