Abstract
Optical switch is a key device for optical fiber communication systems, which contain rapidly increasing demand for transmission capacity. All-optical switches promise to construct the systems to be bit rate independent and protocol transparent because they do not convert light pulses back into electrical signals. And thus, carriers will be able to save costs and take advantage of optical cross connect technology more easily.
