Abstract
The dramatic growth in e-business is strengthening demands for high-speed connections between multi-located local area networks (LANs): virtual LAN services are starting to be offered via wide-area networks. In the services, large capacity Ethernet switches and gigantic information servers are demanded to be located at the center node (CN) in wide access area to guarantee the bandwidth with low latency. WDM technology is one of the most promising candidates for the big pipe between the LANs via the CN.
