Measurements of gain and phase dynamics of a semiconductor optical amplifier using spectrograms

Abstract

The temporal dynamics of the gain and phase of a pump-modulated SOA are measured using the spectrogram technique. The phase response is temporally delayed owing to the ultrafast nonlinear processes. We also measure the pattern dependence at 40 Gb/s.
