Abstract
The short-wavelength cutoff property of photonic-crystal fiber was applied to Er:Yb fiber amplification. Appropriate bending gives >10dB/m distributed filtering in the Yb band and suppression of ASE and parasitic lasing has been successfully demonstrated.
