Practical Implementation of Higher Order Modulation Beyond 16-QAM

Abstract

We review practical aspects of higher order QAM modulation for optical coherent transmission systems. Measurements of 64-QAM with a silicon-photonics based integrated transmitter show only minor degradation, when compared to a discrete components setup.
