Couplers composed of birefringent material

Abstract

Couplers have great potential as components for various optical devices. Here we study those couplers that are composed of two fibers, each with anisotropic core material surrounded by isotropic cladding. The fibers are weakly guiding and single-moded when in isolation from each other.
