Abstract

The performance of a distributed acoustic sensor (DAS) depends on the spectral properties of the probe light used. This involves the coherence properties of the light source as well as the envelope of the emitted pulses. Here, we discuss phase errors and crosstalk that arise from pulse shape side lobes exceeding the heterodyne frequency shift.
