Large Five-Axis Mounts

Not Accessible

Your library or personal account may give you access

Abstract

A mount was designed at the Optical Sciences Center for testing a 750-mm diam, 318-kg center axicon. Several design restrictions were considered: The mount must be capable of translating about three orthogonal axes over a range of 2 mm in submicrometer steps and rotating about two of the above axes in a range of 6 mrad in 0.001 mrad steps. The entire clear aperture of the center axicon must be accessible for testing, and vertical access is required for removal of the axicon from its mount. The mount is to be used atop a vibration isolation system, in a small Class 10,000 clean room, thus imposing size limitations; in addition, the mount must be remote controlled from outside the clean room.
