Abstract

This paper analyses achieved performance of three commonly used coating types, narrow band, notch and edge filter which are convenient design vehicles to identify and determine limiting effects of critical manufacturing factors relevant to production of general optical multilayer dielectric coatings. Fabrication of such a range of coating types, within a production environment, requires a high yield process with reproducibility of optimum coating performance over available deposition plant coating area and successive coating runs. Previous papers [1, 2] concentrate on specific aspects of optical coating manufacture, whilst few have addressed the general consequences of all effects on manufacturability.
