Abstract

We discuss a new photonic crystal structure that arise out of including extremely thin metallic inserts in a standard dielectric photonic crystal (DPC). This particular case of Metal Dielectric photonic crystal (MDPC) preserve features from both. Metal and dielectric PC. Our discussion in a in a microsphere analyses the dependence of the dielectric width o_D and the metallic width o_M respectively, as functions of the refraction index difference and the metal thickness d.
